With a streamflow advisory in effect in the East Kootenay and heavy rain in the forecast, communities are preparing for potential flooding.

Cranbrook's Corporate Communications Officer Chris Zettel says that flooding in the city is not a concern at this time.

Zettel says that sandbags are prepared and staff and equipment are at the ready in case area rivers and streams rise to flood watch levels.
